Dear all, Canvas is now back online, and Lab 3 is due tonight (October 21).
We will not have class on Tuesday, October 22, as I’ll be attending the ACSP Annual Conference 2025 in Minneapolis. Please use this time to continue working on Lab 4 and try to explore more possibilities of ggplot2! Lab 4 will be due next Wednesday (October 29).
Next Monday (October 27), we’ll welcome Drew Dolan (Principal, DXD Capital) for a guest lecture on data-driven real estate investment. Please participate in person if you are available.

Dear all, thank you for submitting Lab 2, and you are doing a wonderful job! Here are the descriptive statistics: Mean: 15.4; Median: 15.8; Standard Deviation: 1.2.
For Lab 3, please notice that there are five questions, even though only two are shown in the HTML table of contents: (1) Handle Missing Values; (2) The Variety of Histograms; (3) The Variety of Boxplots; (4) Review Diagrams; (5) Explore National Mortgage Database.
Next week, we will not have class on October 22 because I’m heading to Minneapolis for the ACSP Annual Conference 2025. Please use the time to work on the following Lab 4. Also, my office hours availability will be very limited next week, and my response may have some level of delay. Sorry for that!

Hi all, thanks for submitting the first lab and all has done a fatalistic job!
Things are getting complicated for the lab 2. So, please be free to book online/in-person office hour here if you encounter any technical problems in the assignment.
For GitHub, you need to commit and push your lab 2 to the GitHub repo. You don’t have to publish your lab as a webpage (like we did on Wednesday), but it will be pretty cool that show those works as a webpage you’ve done with others! We will talk more about making webpages later!
For the final project, please email me or form the group on Canvas if you have not done: details here!

Dear all, I know that, for many of you, coding can feel challenging at the beginning. After all, we are communicating with computers in a new language and logic. To help you navigate the first few weeks, I have made some adjustments and would like to emphasize a few points about the labs.
- Please review the example codes of lab 1 in
rmdor this page and test the codes using your RStudio. You can find almost all key points for the TODO tasks. - You can work on
lab-01.rmddirectly for the lab or create a new.rmdfile. Please submit both.rmdand.HTMLfiles on Canvas. - If you have any clarification and coding questions, please first post them on Ed Discussion, especially on the lab 1 megathread if the question is about lab 1 and please help others if you can!
- Lab 1 will be due next Monday (Oct 6) and we do have a late days policy. If you need accommodations and please contact Disability Resources for Students (DRS).
- I will open more time slots for office hours and please book them online here.
- I will record all future in-class lab sessions so that you can review them later if needed.
Meanwhile, if you are interested in getting access to CoStar during this quarter, please follow the instructions to apply before next Monday (Oct 6).
